United Kingdom’s food industry IT recruitment activity drops 10.4% in August 2022


The UK’s food industry registered a 10.4% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 23.99% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.

Out of the food industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.73% share in August 2022, recording an increase of 0.57% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the UK’s food industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s food industry in August 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 60% in August 2022, registering a 25% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 20% share, a flat growth over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 14.29%, registering a 66.67% rise from July 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 5.71%, down 33.33% over the previous month.

Top five food companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average flat growth share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s food industry during August 2022 over July 2022.

Unternehmensgruppe Theo Muller S.e.c.s. posted 17 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 32% over the previous month, followed by Kellogg with 4 jobs and a flat growth. Bakkavor Group with 4 IT jobs and Mars with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 200% growth, respectively, while Nomad Foods recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 82.86%, down by 25.64% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with an 8.57% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 8.57% share, flat growth over July 2022.
