Quarterback Johnny Manziel took the NFL by storm, for better or worse.

The Cleveland Browns had high hopes for him when they selected him 22nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft.

After all, he was the first freshman to win the Heisman Trophy, the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award, and the Manning Award.

He was also named First-Team All-American by various groups or media organizations like the Associated Press, Sporting News, and the Football Writers Association of America.

Unfortunately, his NFL stint was marred by inconsistency and controversy.

In two seasons with the Browns, Manziel played 15 games and completed only 57 percent of his passes.

He finished with 1,675 passing yards, 259 rushing yards, eight total touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

He was also fined $12,000 for a hand gesture he did during his rookie season.

Manziel was a magnet for controversy, in College Station or the NFL.

In 2015, he did enter a treatment program for an unspecified reason.

He also threw a water bottle at a man asking for his autograph during a golf tournament

These anecdotes should make the upcoming Manziel documentary on Netflix interesting.

Perhaps he will be given an opportunity to air his side on the controversies he went through.

While it will not justify his actions, it’s still a great way to share his story.

What Happened To Manziel After The NFL?

Manziel went to the Canadian Football League, three years after his last stint with the Browns.

He first played with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats before transferring to the Montreal Alouettes.

Manziel also suited up for the Memphis Express of Alliance of American Football.

Two years later, he played for the Zappers of Fan Controlled Football.

He will serve as player-coach in the upcoming FCF season.
