The New York Yankees might be back on track.

With a 13-4 blowout victory against the Oakland Athletics, they earned their fourth consecutive win.

After a rough start to the month of August, the resurgent Yankees came into Oakland and brought the lumber with them.

But their blowout win came without something that usually comes with offensive outbursts like the one we saw last night.

The Yankees did not hit a home run last night as they took apart the Athletics.

This is the most runs the Yankees have scored without hitting a home run in a single game since May 11 of 2001.

In that game, they scored 14 runs against the Baltimore Orioles.

Yanks Bust Out The Lumber

This is a big accomplishment for the Yankees, given that August has been such a rough month.

But rarely do you score that many runs without a home run.

The Yankees certainly kept it a little simpler last night, just getting timely hits when they needed them.

Ironically though, it was the bottom of the order that did the most damage for the Yankees.

Josh Donaldson and Isiah Kiner-Falefa each combined for five hits and five RBI.

Donaldson hit sixth in the lineup for the Yankees last night, while Kiner-Falefa occupied the No. 9 hole.

It also helped that Giancarlo Stanton was back in the lineup, adding yet another feared presence in the heart of the Bronx Bombers’ batting order.

But the Yankees kept things simple last night.

Instead of a bunch of home runs, they simply relied on timely hits to get them their fourth straight win.

Granted, Oakland Coliseum is a pitcher’s park, but that didn’t stop the Yankees from having a much-needed offensive outburst.
