The Dallas Cowboys will have to deal with another challenge after left tackle Tyron Smith was ruled out indefinitely.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport gave more details about his injury by tweeting, “#Cowboys standout LT Tyron Smith actually suffered an avulsion fracture of the knee, meaning the hamstring tendon that sits at the back of the knee pulled off the bone, and he needs surgery, sources say. If he’s back at all, it’ll be December. A tough loss.”
If that’s the case, the longtime Cowboys offensive lineman will be out for at least three months.
However, Locked on Cowboys host Marcus Mosher shared a grim reality about the former USC stalwart.

Mosher tweeted, “He’s not coming back for the 2022 season. We’ve probably seen the last of Tyron Smith in the NFL.”
He has a point because hamstring injuries are tricky to deal with.
Therefore, his timetable is indefinite, and he might not be back by December.
Unfortunately, recurring injuries forced Smith to miss several games over the last three seasons.
In 2020, he ended his campaign abruptly after suffering a neck injury that required surgery.
Last season, ankle injuries forced him to miss six games.
Things are not looking good for him in 2022, and he might ponder retirement with this injury.
A Successful Career For Smith
If Mosher is correct, Smith should have no regrets because he had an impressive career.
He played 11 NFL seasons, all with the Cowboys, and earned four All-Pro selections.
Smith is also an eight-time Pro Bowler and a member of the league’s 2010s All-Decade Team.
He also earned a spot in the Pro Football Writers Association’s All-Rookie Team for 2011.
One of Josh Ball, Matt Waletzko, or Aviante Collins will likely take over for Smith at left tackle.
