As expected, the Cincinnati Reds were sellers at the trade deadline, trading away players such as Luis Castillo, Tyler Mahle, and Brandon Drury.
But they got a ton of solid prospects in return, which sets the stage for a bright future.
In fact, some of the young pitchers the Reds already had prior to the deadline fire sale have been pitching pretty well lately.
Rookies Nick Lodolo, Hunter Greene, and Graham Ashcraft, had dominant outings in their most recent starts.
Stats By STATS tweeted what the numbers were for each of the Reds young starters in their most recent starts.
Both Lodolo and Greene went six innings and struck out at least seven, while Ashcraft went 8.1 scoreless innings.
Last 3 starters for the @Reds (all rookies):
Lodolo: 6.0 IP, 1 ER, 7 K
Greene: 6.0 IP, 0 ER, 8 K
Ashcraft: 8.1 IP, 0 ER, 3 KSince ER became an official stat in 1913, they’re the only MLB team to start 3 straight rookies & have them combine for 18+ K & no more than 1 ER allowed

Future Dominance?
This could be a nice little glimpse into the future for Reds fans.
These three young studs really turned it up a notch in their last starts.
If they continue dominating like this, then the Reds are going to have a bright future.
Could these three turn the Reds rotation around in a few short years?
Maybe.
You have to be excited about seeing this if you’re a Reds fan, especially given that this season has not been one worth getting terribly excited over.
Greene and Lodolo both have bright futures and could headline the Reds’ next great rotation.
But when you look at Ashcraft, he put up some pretty solid numbers in his last start.
It’s going to be a while before the Reds contend again, but these three starters could be one of the major keys to the next great team in Cincinnati.
Fans can certainly dream.
Maybe their dreams will be realized soon.
