Blue Jays’ Schneider says Manoah ‘feeling better’ day after hit by comebacker

Toronto Blue Jays interim manager John Schneider said Saturday that starting pitcher Alek Manoah is feeling better a day after he was struck by a comebacker against the Detroit Tigers.

Manoah left Friday’s 4-2 loss during the sixth inning after he was hit on the left elbow by Jonathan Schoop during the sixth inning.

The 24-year-old all-star sustained a contusion and told reporters following the game that, “right now, it feels good,” after x-rays came back negative.

Manoah leads the team with 11 wins, 126 innings pitched and a 2.43 ERA while his 114 strikeouts are second only to fellow starter Kevin Gausman.

With the Blue Jays having Monday off, Manoah isn’t slated to start again until Thursday on the road against the Minnesota Twins.
