The kingdom that the Kansas City Chiefs have built could be slowly ending soon.
While fans doubt this reasoning, they aren’t looking at the big picture being painted with their team.
They only see Patrick Mahomes and feel everything is fine with him there as their quarterback.
However, one man alone can’t carry the Chiefs to the Super Bowl every season.
He needs a team around him, mainly an offensive line to protect him.
This is where the Chiefs are taking a turn in the wrong direction.
Their failure to keep top talent, outside of Mahomes, is slowly weakening the team.
If they don’t stop this soon, the Chiefs’ playoff hopes could start dying in the coming years.
Losing Tyreek Hill And Tyrann Mathieu Hurt Chiefs In 2022
Two of the biggest blows for Kansas City this season were when they lost Tyreek Hill and Tyrann Mathieu.

While the team got draft picks for trading Hill to the Miami Dolphins, they got nothing in return for letting Mathieu go during free agency.
With the leadership Mathieu provides on defense now gone, the team won’t have that same motivation anymore.
The value of him as a player was ignored by the Chiefs, costing them an asset that is impossible to replace.
He was the guy that was a role-model, helper, and dedicated player that puts in the work for his team every day.

However, on the offensive side, losing Hill takes away one of the best receivers for Mahomes.
While he didn’t have the great reputation that Mathieu had with the Chiefs, he was still a clutch player.
Finding someone to replace him, and all the production he brought with him, won’t be easy.
Issues With Orlando Brown And Chiefs Could Prove Costly
Another problem the Chiefs are having is keeping offensive tackle Orlando Brown.
Brown is coming off a season where he saw 1,127 snaps, allowing four sacks and committing seven penalties.
The issues are coming from contract talks, which went nowhere between the Chiefs and Brown.
Failure to keep top talent, especially on the offensive line, could prove costly in the future.
However, the issue here was the Chiefs not giving Brown a deal he thought was big enough for him.
The six-year $139 million offer, that was said to be Kansas City’s last offer, didn’t please Brown.
No deal between Chiefs and Orlando Brown will get done today, but KC was aggressive.
Its final offer was a six-year, $139 million deal ($23.16M avg) that included a $30.25 million signing bonus and $95 million in first five years.

Where the Chiefs went wrong with this deal is currently unknown.
However, it could come from a lack of guaranteed money.
Chiefs Are Facing A Huge Problem Soon
Not only is keeping players a problem for the Chiefs, but they will also face a problem with the salary cap soon.
The ten-year $450 million contract extension between the Chiefs and Mahomes will have a major cap hit soon.
The 2027 contract year for Mahomes carries the biggest cap hit at $59.95 million, a possible 25% hit of their annual cap space.
With his contract extension carrying into 2031, it would be very odd to rework his deal during the 2027 season.
That’s why the kingdom could fall in Kansas City by 2027.
