Baseball can be a painful game.

And no, we are not talking about emotional pain by seeing your team lose and disappoint, although that certainly applies, too.

We are talking about physical pain.

Ask Miami Marlins shortstop Miguel Rojas if you don’t believe us.

During Thursday’s game between the Marlins and the Pittsburgh Pirates, Oneil Cruz attempted to steal a base.

When he was getting up after his slide, Cruz’s helmet hit Rojas in the face, and a tooth was lost in the process.

“With a new fake tooth and a few stitches ready to go today. I’m feeling much better today, thank you all for keeping me on ur thoughts,” Rojas tweeted, while quoting the video of the incident.

He Seems To Be OK After The Painful And Unfortunate Play

That definitely had to hurt.

He needed a new fake tooth and some stitches, but should be ready to return to action this weekend.

Cruz obviously didn’t do it on purpose, and he seemed worried about Rojas’ state after the play happened.

At least Rojas can say he got the out: Cruz was thrown out after a perfect throw by the catcher.

It couldn’t have been easy to make the play while getting your tooth removed, but he did it.

Rojas is a true professional, and one of the Marlins’ leaders.

The 33-year-old shortstop is hitting .246 with 26 runs, six homers, 21 RBI, six steals, and a .659 OPS.

Offense is clearly not his strongest suit, but he is a good defender and a good example for the Marlins’ young players and prospects.

Hopefully, he isn’t in much pain and can return to the field soon to represent his Marlins.
