The Miami Marlins are 43-45 so far in the 2022 MLB season: they are not a powerhouse by any means, but they are sneaky dangerous.
They know that, with some luck and the right decisions in the player personnel department, they could potentially secure a place in the 2022 postseason with the expanded format.
The odds are against them at the moment, but the days leading up to the deadline will probably be crucial to dictate what they will do.
For now, their talent acquisition plan consists mostly of internal options to shore up specific positions.
For example, there is currently a need in the rotation, and they are calling up one of their best prospects in pitcher Max Meyer.

A Unique Talent With A Great Slider
Only two players were picked ahead of Meyer in the 2020 Draft: that should tell you all you need to know about his talent.
His fastball is good, but not truly special: the slider, on the other hand, is amazing.
It has helped him strike out 65 hitters in 58 Triple-A innings this season.
Overall, he has posted a 3.72 ERA, but his Fielding Independent Pitching (a metric that removes defense from the equation and focuses solely on what the pitcher can control) is a much better 3.44.
His control is Major League-ready, and his numbers indicate that he should get his feet wet in the best league in the world to see if he belongs.
He is 23 years old and has a bright future ahead of him.
