Tiger Woods 2022 British Open live updates from St. Andrews Friday

Tiger Woods struggled on Thursday afternoon and it all started with a water ball on the very first hole (thanks to his perfect tee shot finding a divot). His putter was cold and his iron play was subpar.

Friday, however, is another opportunity.

His second round at the Old Course for the 150th Open Championship will have to be a special one if he plans on hanging around for the weekend.

He tees off alongside Matt Fitzpatrick and Max Homa at 4:58 a.m. ET.

So, if you were asleep for his round, or you want to follow along, here’s Woods’ second round shot for shot.

Hole 1 – Par 4

Alright, folks, let’s have a morning. We need a big bounce back from The Cat after yesterday’s 78.

Tiger’s tee shot off the first finds the fairway, although that’s not saying much, and we’re off! No divot today. His approach to the front-right pin started left and cut back, eventually finishing long and left. But it’s dry!

On Thursday, Tiger struggled with the flat-stick, seemingly off with his pace all day long. His first putt Friday was a decent one, but it came up several feet short. No worries, though, he cans it.

Hole 2 – Par 4

First driver of the day is a good one as Tiger finds the right side of the fairway. He’ll have just under 150 yards for his second. A great pass on his iron shot and he finds the green! Makeable birdie putt coming up.

His bid lips out and he’ll have a tester for his par. It’s a four.

Hole 3 – Par 4

Another driver off the third and this one, too, is really good and finds a fairway. So far, the swing looks a lot better on day two.

His approach was subpar, but it finds the putting surface and he’ll have a third birdie look through three holes. Progress from yesterday.

Boom! He drains the 30-footer and we’re off!

Hole 4 – Par 4

Coming off the three, Tiger finds another fairway with the driver. We may be officially vibing.

From 181 yards, Tiger’s approach is yanked left and misses the green. Woods pulled putter from off the green and played a great third that finished a few feet from the hole. His short par putt lipped out and it’s a bogey. Another short miss.

Hole 5 – Par 5

Tough bogey at the fourth, but an opportunity to get it right back at the par 5. Tiger’s drive down the fifth is a low fade and it’s perfect. Go time.

From 240, Tiger’s fairway metal is tugged a bit due to a weird lie and ends up just a few feet from the 13th flag. It will be a long putt for eagle. 117 feet to be exact.

Not a great effort and he’ll have nearly 20 feet for birdie. It slips by the edge and that’s a three-putt par.

Hole 6 – Par 4

His first bad swing of the day comes off the sixth tee and his ball finds a pot bunker down the right. Would be lucky to escape with par from that position. His pitch from the bunker failed to get to the fairway and now he’s in trouble.

His third finds the green but it will be a long putt for par.

It was a good effort, but it’ll be another bogey.

Hole 7 – Par 4

A beautiful fade with a fairway wood off the tee for Tiger and he’ll have a wedge in hand for his second.

A disappointing wedge comes up well short and his lag putting will once again be tested. An okay first putt leaves him with three or four feet for his par. Made it.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 7

Hole 8 – Par 3

First par 3 of the day and Tiger lands it just short of the green and it runs up to about 20 feet. He’ll have that for his second birdie of the day. His bid for a two just misses and it’ll be a par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 8

Hole 9 – Par 4

Tiger’s drive on the driveable ninth finished just right of the green and he’ll have a great opportunity to make another birdie to get back to even on the day.

From long range, Tiger used his putter and once again came up well short and has left himself another 20-footer. Another miss for Tiger and he goes out in 1 over.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 9

Hole 10 – Par 4

Tiger’s tee shot down the 10th is a good one, finding the middle of the fairway and he’ll have another wedge in hand. His second from 116 lands and finishes pin high and he’ll have another look at birdie.

It comes up just short but it’s an easy par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 10

Hole 11 – Par 3

His iron into the par 3 found the greenside pot bunker. He splashed the bunker shot to just inside 10 feet and drained the putt. All in all, great par.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 11

Hole 12 – Par 4

On the driveable par 4, Tiger’s tee shot finished just short of the green but he’ll have a challenging pitch across the green over several slopes to a pin on top of a mound.

His second came to rest well short of the flag. His birdie putt up the hill ran by a bit, leaving him six feet for par. But, it’s a four.

TIGER ON THE DAY: 1 over thru 12

Hole 13 – Par 4

Tiger hit iron off the 13th tee and his ball trickled into the first cut, but it should be fine. From 216 yards, Tiger’s long-iron approach ran out into the middle of the green, but all-in-all a solid shot from that range.

From nearly 50 feet, Tiger was able to get down in two for par.
