Adam Svensson went into the second day of the PGA Tour’s Barbasol Championship as the leader. He was still the man at the head of the pack when his second round was done Friday.
The Canadian golfer was the clubhouse leader with a three-shot edge after a round of 5-under 67 at Keene Trace in Nicholasville, Ky. Mark Hubbard, Robin Roussel, and Brandon Hagy were all tied for second at 12-under with several players still out on the course.
Svensson, from Surrey, B.C., carded seven birdies to go with a pair of bogeys on the day. A bogey on 16 could have maintained his lead from the first round, but Svensson recovered to birdie 17 and extend it by one.
Svensson’s day was a long one with a 6:45 a.m. ET tee time followed by a pair of weather delays.
Asked how he handled the delays, the 28-year-old replied: “Took an hour nap in the car with my girlfriend, hit about 10 bails and went out there.”
Falling asleep in the car is apparently not a problem for the Canadian. “With a 4:00 a.m. wake-up like we had, yeah, it was pretty easy,” he said.
Fellow Canadian David Hearn, from Brampton, Ont., also shot a 67 and was four shots back at 11-under.
