The Tennessee Titans got their contingency plan at quarterback while not being compelled to pay a ton of money.

It was projected that former Liberty quarterback Malik Willis could be drafted as early as the first round.

However, he was taken in the third round just like his fellow play-callers Matt Corral and Desmond Ridder.

With Willis on board, the Titans have lit the flame underneath Ryan Tannehill.

Therefore, the veteran quarterback will be compelled to play better, especially after registering three interceptions in his final game last season.

If Tannehill falters, Willis will have his opportunity, and Titans fans will love him for throws like this.

In that video, he was calmly going on a five-step drop before hitting the wide receiver downfield for an accurate pass.

The Titans will be in a good situation if they will get Willis on board.

However, he remains unsigned as of writing even if the team need not shell out a lot of money to have him under contract.

Willis Fits Tennessee’s Approach On Offense

There might be a time when head coach Mike Vrabel would notice that he is better off starting Willis over Tannehill.

After all, the rookie fits the team’s offense more.

Aside from his passing ability, Willis also added 878 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns in his final year with the Flames.

Therefore, he and Derrick Henry could continue to execute their run game until their opponents find a solution to neutralize them.

It’s an unconventional approach in today’s pass-happy NFL, but it’s something that continues to work for the Titans.

Therefore, Tannehill should have his best performance in 2022 if he is to keep the starting job.

Otherwise, the Titans will give Willis his opportunity to shine.
