Australian agri-food business Craig Mostyn Group has taken full control of meat peer V&V Walsh.

Craig Mostyn Group, which supplies pork, abalone and feed ingredients, has bought up the remaining 50% of Davenport, Western Australia-based V&V Walsh after taking a 50% share in the company in 2017.

Also based in Western Australia, in the port city of Fremantle, Craig Mostyn Group owns the Linley Valley brand of pork, producing fresh, frozen and chilled cuts from five farms destined for retail and foodservice at home and abroad. It also supplies the Jade Tiger Abalone brand, operating from three facilities in Victoria and Tasmania.

Founded in 1923, Craig Mostyn Group did not reveal the financial terms for the remaining stake in V&V Walsh, which produces lamb and beef under the Amelia Park brand supplied to retail.

Neil Kearney, chairman of Craig Mostyn Group, said of the deal: “This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to investing in and growing agriculture and food processing in WA, as well as creating sustainable local jobs and promoting our WA export industries.

“We look forward to continuing to build on the legacy of our founders as these two great Western Australian companies become one.”

Starting out as butchers’ shop in 1957, V&V Walsh is “one of the biggest meat processors and exporters” in Western Australia, Craig Mostyn Group said in a statement. Peter Walsh, who was CEO, will remain in an advisory role at the meat processor.

Just Food has approached V&V Walsh for comment.
