Indoors: This home’s entrance is behind a privacy wall. The front door opens into a foyer with hardwood floors and a staircase to the second floor. The hardwood flooring continues into an open living and dining area overlooking the backyard.

A powder room and laundry room are also off the foyer, as is a kitchen that has white stone counters, a center island with a five-burner cooktop, a built-in banquette and a fireplace with built-in shelving on either side.

On the second floor, the landing flows into an open space that has been used as a guest room. The sellers added a built-in desk and storage to turn it into a home office. The space is large enough to accommodate a sectional sofa, so it could also be used as a den.

Next door is the primary bedroom, which has a closet with custom-designed storage and an en suite bathroom with a deep soaking tub and walk-in shower.

At the other end of this floor are two guest rooms of roughly equal size, one with a Juliet balcony. They share a bathroom off the hallway with a combined tub and shower.

Outdoor space: The drought-tolerant landscaping in the front and back includes artificial grass and a stone garden. The backyard has a deck with a fire table and hot tub. The attached garage holds two cars, and there is room to park two more in the driveway.

Taxes: $27,492 (estimated) and a $26 monthly homeowner association fee

This condominium is in Pacific Heights, one of San Francisco’s most desirable neighborhoods, prized for its grand Victorian and Edwardian architecture, access to green space and shopping and dining. Lafayette Park, which has picnic spots and a play area for dogs, is less than half a mile away, and the retail corridors of California Street and Van Ness Avenue are within easy walking distance.

The waterfront is also nearby: Fisherman’s Wharf is about two miles away, and the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, which includes a museum devoted to the history of sea travel, is just over a mile away. Driving across the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County takes about 15 minutes.

Size: 1,657 square feet

Price per square foot: $1,325

Indoors: The front door to this unit opens into a foyer with wide-plank oak floors and original picture molding on the walls. The oak flooring continues into the living room, which has floor-to-ceiling windows and a wood-burning fireplace surrounded by deep green tile and topped with a simple wood mantel.

The dining room beyond has more original picture molding and space for a generously sized table. The recently renovated kitchen, accessible from the dining room and foyer, has quartz counters, open shelving for cookbooks, a six-burner Wolf range and a 150-bottle wine storage unit. A laundry room is just off the kitchen.

Two bedrooms and two recently updated bathrooms are off a hallway extending from the dining room. The larger bedroom has space for a king-size bed, and the bathrooms have heated floors and Toto toilets.

A third bedroom, off the foyer, has a glass door that opens to a private deck and would make an ideal home office.

Outdoor space: The wood deck currently holds a coffee table and several bench-style seats; it could also accommodate a small dining table and barbecue. The homeowner association fee covers maintenance, water and trash removal. This unit comes with one parking space with a built-in Tesla charger, as well as additional secure storage.

Silver Lake, the neighborhood where he built his house, has a number of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The Silver Lake Reservoir, a popular spot for dog walking, is also nearby. Downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood are a 15-minute drive.
