South & Central America’s food industry IT hiring activity drops 6.0% in June 2022


South & Central America witnessed a 6.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the food industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

June 2022 has seen a decrease of 4.29% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 2.18% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering an increase of 0.1% over the last three-month average share.

Computer and Information Analysts Occupations leads by classification in June 2022

Computer and Information Analysts Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 41.38% in June 2022, a 20% drop over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 20.69% in June 2022, marking a 33.33% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 17.24% in June 2022, a 25% rise from May 2022.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 13.79% in June 2022, a 42.86% decline over the previous month.

Top five food companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 18.75% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s food industry during June 2022 over previous month.

GraceKennedy posted 9 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a decline of 18.18% over the previous month, followed by BRF with 7 jobs and a 30% drop. Alicorp SAA with 5 IT jobs and JBS with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 50% drop, respectively, while Nestle recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during June 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s food industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s food industry IT hiring activity with a 41.38% share in June 2022, a 33.33% decrease over May 2022. Jamaica featured next with a 31.03% share, down 18.18% over the previous month. Peru recorded a 17.24% share, a flat growth compared with May 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 89.66%, down by 3.7% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 6.9% share, registered a decline of 60% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 3.45% share, down 75% over May 2022.
