NFL teams are still looking for their starting quarterback after the 2022 NFL Draft left them with no quarterbacks worth building a franchise around.
One quarterback is still on the trade market for NFL teams.
That quarterback is the Cleveland Browns’ Baker Mayfield.
The disgruntled quarterback has desired a trade since his team showed interest in Deshaun Watson.
However, no one has fully committed to offering the Browns something in return for Mayfield.
But that might change soon with the regular season quickly approaching.
So what NFL team would be the surprising fit for Mayfield in 2022?
The Seattle Seahawks Are The Best Fit For Mayfield
With the trade of Russell Wilson, the Seattle Seahawks are left with Drew Lock and Geno Smith at quarterback.
The Seahawks have shown interest in Mayfield, signaling they have little confidence in Lock and Smith.

It would be the perfect fit for him, giving him a new division to play in.
A Seattle trade also does more than just get him out of the AFC North.
They have two good wide receivers in DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Mayfield plays his best when he has star receivers playing with him.
It would give him two receivers on the level of his pairing in Cleveland with Jarvis Landry and Odell Beckham Jr.
Seattle also spent their top draft pick to improve their offensive line, something fans complained about when Wilson was there.
However, if he goes to Seattle, could he impact the team?
Mayfield Is Only As Good At The Team Around Him
If people look into Mayfield and his record in Cleveland, they would see a story of how he wasn’t that great.
He’s only as good as the team that’s around him, meaning if Seattle doesn’t keep Metcalf, it would make things harder on Mayfield.
I appreciate what Russ did as a Seahawk but it’s time for a different type of QB. Baker isn’t nearly as good as Russ anyway with 1.5” on him.

Seattle fans also feel he isn’t as good as their former quarterback.
However, those statements have some merit, as the one season that the Cleveland quarterback saw success was when he had all the surrounding pieces in Cleveland.
He had two good receivers, a good running back duo, and a good defense to help him stay in games.
It was also that defense that helped the Browns win their first playoff game during the 2020-21 season.
So if you take away the surrounding talent, he’s comparable to a quarterback like Sam Darnold.
Will Their Fans Accept Him?
The reason Mayfield wants out of Cleveland is that he feels overlooked and ignored.
With Cleveland already willing to give up on their former first-round pick, how can he feel accepted by them?
He might wonder the same about a Seattle fanbase who loves Russell Wilson.
Wilson makes it hard for any other quarterback to fill those shoes in Seattle.
His talent and motivation were key in Seattle.
However, the Cleveland quarterback has shown little of either of those abilities.
This could lead to fans not accepting him.
If this happens, he might feel like he’s in Cleveland all over again.
