The vast majority of MLB players would love to hit 27 or more home runs over the course of a full season.
It’s a cool number, close to 30, and it means the player has contributed a lot with his team’s offensive output.
Then we have New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge, who has 27 after June 22’s game.
He still has more than half of the campaign to go, and he is already closing in 30 with the two he hit on Wednesday.
Last night, when the Yanks were down in the score against the Tampa Bay Rays, he hit two round-trippers to move his team closer.
In the eighth inning, his patience and the Yankees’ were rewarded when Jose Trevino belted a home run that turned the score around.
But let’s get back to Judge.
Judge Can Go Off At Any Minute, And The Numbers Show It
He already has a serious amount of multi-homer games to his name.
“Multi-homer games in NYY history: Babe Ruth 68; Mickey Mantle 46; Lou Gehrig 43; Joe DiMaggio 35; Alex Rodriguez; 29 Aaron Judge 22; Jason Giambi 22; Mark Teixeira 21,” Jeff Quagliata, the research manager at the YES Network, tweeted.

Joe DiMaggio 35

It means that Judge, with his multi-homer game on Wednesday night, surpassed another Yankees great, Mark Teixeira, and moved into a tie with a fellow run-producer: Jason Giambi.
Giambi was a successful hitter with the Bombers in the early-2000s, and nearly everybody who saw him play remembers him.
Judge is hitting .302/.379/.663 and has his arbitration hearing scheduled for Friday.
Starting tomorrow, we will know if he will earn $17 million, $21 million, or sign a potential extension.
In any case, his home runs are coming in bunches.
