VANCOUVER — Canada’s Leylah Annie Fernandez will face Darja Semenistaja of Latvia to kick off a Billie Jean King Cup qualifier in Vancouver on Friday.
Fernandez, ranked twenty first on this planet, is available in as Canada’s best seed whilst Semenistaja, the arena No. 389, is Latvia’s 2d seed. Canadian Rebecca Marino will tackle Latvia’s best seed Daniela Vismane afterward Friday.
Saturday will see Fernandez play Vismane, ranked 230, and Marino, the arena No. 111, face Semenistaja. Later, Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Carol Zhao will tackle Liga Dekmeijere and Diana Marcinkevica in doubles motion.
Latvia is with out two of its stars, together with global No. 11 Jelena Ostapenko, who suffered a wrist damage on the Miami Open. Anastasija Sevastova could also be out after saying in January that she used to be taking a ruin from tennis to care for an undisclosed ailment.
Canada comes into the sequence ranked 9th on this planet whilst Latvia sits at No. 14.
