In a video posted Tuesday, Meyers mentioned, “The fortieth anniversary is subsequent Tuesday, and to have a good time, my visitor that night time would be the guy who began all of it, David Letterman.”

The comic introduced the display in 1982, ahead of transferring over to CBS for the “Overdue Display” in 1993. NBC picked Jay Leno over Letterman to host “The This night Display,” sparking a overdue evening feud. Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Fallon and Meyers have all been hosts over the display’s 40 years.
Meyers added that he is extremely joyful to have Letterman approaching.

Meyers has credited Letterman for the display’s luck.
